Experimental Studies of Dipyridamole on the Action Mechanism of Smooth Muscle Relaxation

Abstract
The action mechanism of Dipyridamole to the smooth muscle relaxation was investigated using the rabbit ileum, rat uterus, rabbit left atrium and aortic strip of the rabbit.
The first step was to observe the action of Dipyridamole on the smooth muscles of all of the above organs and secandly the author investigated actions between Dipyridamole and various agents such as smooth muscle stimulants, cholinergic agent, cholinergic blocking agent, ganglion blocking agent, adrenergic agents and adrenergic a and 0 receptor blocking agents.
The results obtained through the above investigation were as follows:
1) Dipyridarnole acts as depressant to the peristaltic movement of the isolated rabbit ileum and also inhibits the accelerated intestinal movement treated with barium chloride, 5-hydroxytryptamine, histamine, acetylcholine and hexamethonium,but no any action en the movement treated with propranolol. ph:moxybenzamine+ propranolol was observed.
2) Theperistaltic movement of the isolated rabbit ileum treated with Dipyridamole is accelerated by barium chloride, 5-hydroxytryptamine and histamine, but lesser degree than the non-treated normal. rabbit ileum except of acetylcholine.
3) Dipyridamole acts as depressant to the automatic movement of the isolated rat uterus.
Dipyridamole also inhibits the uterine movement accelerated by the treatment of barium chloride.
oxytccin and acetylcholine, but no any action on the movement treated with phenoxybenzamineprep anolol was obsered.
The movement of the isolated rat uterus treated with Dipyridamole is not accelerated by barium chloride and oxytocin but accelerated by the acetylcholine.
4) The action of Dipyridamole to the isolated rabbit atrium and aortic strip is either slightly inhibitory or none.
Norepinephrine and epinephrine act as stimulant and this contractile force is remarkably accelerated by the treatment of Dipyridamole.
